Time magazine chose three photos from Ukraine to be on the list of the Top 100 photos of the passing year. The pictures show some of the most notable events that occurred in 2018.
The first image (see above) shows Oleksandr Abramenko, the freestyler in the 2018 Winter Olympics held in Pyeongchang, North Korea. Avramenko won gold in the final event, thus becoming the first Ukrainian to claim gold in the Winter Olympics.
The Top 100 also includes the image of children from the patriotic summer camp (see below), as they hold rifles while getting instructed during the tactical drills in western Ukraine.
And one more touching photo shows the just married couple on their wedding day: Alina and Ihor kiss at the wedding ceremony held at a local community center in Avdiivka - next to the minefield in the frontline town in Donetsk region.
As we mentioned in our of our stories, the last three months - September, October, and November - have traditionally been extremely restless for Ukraine. Another ammo depot explosion, worsening of relations with the neighboring state (this time, western), and failure to start heating season in time. Moreover, in some regions of the country, martial law was imposed, and the Prosecutor General, despite his “resignation zeal,” did not leave his post.
