The chief US infectious disease doctor Dr. Anthony Fauci states that the third dose of Pfizer vaccine, the so-called “booster dose”, could be approved by September 20. This was reported by Voice of America.
According to the doctor, after Pfizer we can expect the approval of the third dose of another American vaccine, Moderna. He stressed that the United States will treat the process as responsibly as possible.
“We will not do anything without the approval of the FDA and then the recommendations of the Immunization Advisory Committee,” said Anthony Fauci.
For its part, the World Health Organization is urging countries not to vaccinate their citizens with a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine at least until the end of September, in order to avoid a significant gap between rich and poor countries in vaccinating the population. The organization is proposing to abandon the principle that high-income countries receive the majority of vaccines in exchange for sharing these doses with poor countries.
As it was reported earlier, Ukrainians will be inoculated with the third dose of Pfizer vaccine, as long as the WHO provides respective recommendations.
