This edition of Sziget, the annual world-renowned festival of music, culture and art is re-scheduled for 2021. It was supposed to take place in August; however, the Hungarian government extended the ban on pubic events until August 15, 2020, which rules out holding the festival this year.
The organizers announced this via the official Instagram account on May 4.
"Sziget has always been special because of the atmosphere that you, our Szitizens, create, and we are devastated that we won't be able to sdee you on The Island of Freedom this summer. Sharing an unforgettable week with you is what keeps us going throughout the year and whilst our whole team has been workign very hard or preparing for the festival, your Sizget adenture will now have to wait until 2021. As hard as it is, we believe that this decision best serves the safety of all of you and eveyone working at our festival", reads the statement.
Previously, organizers of Kyiv-based festivals Atlas Weekend and UPark also claimed that the respective eents would be postponed until 2021.
