The performer says Svitanok is war-related, still one of the most life-asserting ones at her new EP

“Cold houses around the city hide us until spring comes. It doesn’t matter whether we are separated by three kilometers or three hundred – as long as there’s no war”. ONUKA says she saw this quote written on the wall of some abandoned house. “It stuck in my head, and I couldn’t get it out. Soon I learned the quote belonged to Kyiv street artist Jerzy Konopje”, she added.

“We contacted him, I asked for his permission to use his text and started writing music. In terms of the main idea of my new EP, the song perfectly fits the rest of the tracks on the album. Most of the songs are more or less related to the recent revolutionary events in Ukraine that started in November 2013. Svitanok is probably the most life-asserting song on the whole EP, because there’s feeling of hope for the better future in it”, ONUKA said.
