10th international forum of the sustainable energy of Central and Eastern Europe took place in Kyiv on Tuesday, October 16.
Six business conferences joined over 80 speakers and 500 delegates from 35 world countries. World leading companies sent their delegates to Kyiv ti demonstrate their products, to share experience and bring something innovative to the energy sector of Ukraine first of all.
The first session began with the short speeches of Nataliya Boyko, Deputy Energy Minister of Ukraine, Viktor Halasyuk, the Head of Parliamentary Committee on Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, Stefan Gsanger, Secretary General at the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA), as well as executive directors, engineering and marketing experts of the producing, integrating and maintaining companies from all over the world.
Key points discussed from the scene were:
Ministry of Energy is working on a new draft law on sustainable energy and energy security;
12 billion dollars to be invested into the world energy by 2040;
211 MWE of solar energy was installed in Ukraine in 2017. 500 MWe are planned in 2018;
The issue of development of renewable and sustainable energy should be a complex issue.
A famous singer Ruslana Lyzhychko, the Ambassador of Renewable Energy, made a motivational speech on the need of Ukraine to develop the renewables in Ukraine. Ruslana also signed a Memorandum on mutual understanding and cooperation in the sphere of promoting renewables.
In the evening the second annual ceremony SEF AWARDS 2018 was held to recognize excellence in project development, best products and outstanding personalities in the field of sustainable energy in Eastern Europe. The results of the voting that was held on October 2 – 5, were made public. The winners got their awards in the following categories:
- Best investment project in the field of sustainable energy of Estern Europe
- Best PV project – Eastern Europe
- Best wind energy project - Eastern Europe
- Best bioenergy project - Eastern Europe
- Best project in the field of energy efficiency – Eastern Europe
- Best local product for sustainable energy development in Eastern Europe
- Outstanding personality in the field of Sustainable Energy
On October 18 – 19, a three-day trade show is underway at the International Congress center of ACCO and the additional pavilion for external exhibitions in the downtown of Kyiv.
