Ulyana Suprun, Acting Healthcare Minister of Ukraine, stated that the state body she leads to initiate the increase of fines and opening the criminal proceedings for sale of medicine without a prescription. Radio Svoboda reports this.
“For them (drug stores – ed.), it is cheaper to have a business without abiding the law. Now the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines is currently working on the amendments to the law. We will increase the criminal responsibility for those who trade medicine without a prescription,” Suprun said.
According to Suprun, the fine for sale drugs without prescriptions is $5, although many drug stores violate this rule.
Acting Minister of Healthcare stressed the free sale of antibiotics.
“We accepted the new strategy to fight against the open free on the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. That’s why we want to increase the fines for antibiotics sale and not only for humans but for animals as well,” Suprun added.
According to her, it is important not to treat the virus diseases with antibiotics, but to get vaccinated, to improve the immune systems and to follow all the hygiene rules.
