The number the Olympic Games participants infected with coronavirus has already reached 123 people. Over the past day, 17 new cases of the disease have been confirmed. This is reported by Kyodo.

"Seventeen more people linked to the Tokyo Olympics have tested positive for Covid-19, including one athlete, bringing the total since the beginning of this month to 123," the message reads.

The total includes 14 contractors and two games officials, one of whom had been staying at the athletes' village.

The athlete is non-Japanese but had not been residing in the village, according to the organizing body of the games. The data, compiled by the committee, go back to July 1 and do not include athletes and staff who tested positive at pre-games training camps in Japan.

Meanwhile, over the last 24 hours, Ukrainian doctors confirmed 745 new cases of Covid-19, including 51 children and 20 healthcare workers.

395 people have been taken to hospitals during this period; 24 patients deceased and 394 recovered. 39,142 tests have been taken.

Most of the confirmed cases have been observed in Kyiv city (194), Dnipropetrovsk (58), Kherson (54), Sumy (42) and Lviv (42) regions.
