The government of the Czech Republic made a decision about enhanced quarantine measures in the country from October 22 due to the growth of Covid-19 cases as Czech Health Minister of the Roman Prymula reported on Twitter.
The movement of the citizens will be restricted. They are recommended to go out only for work, must-buy purchase, to visit a doctor or in case of provision of necessary assistance to relatives. The Health Ministry recommends to spend more time outdoors; however, in number not more than two persons if they are not the members of one family.
The employers are recommended to relocate the staff to the remote workplace and restrict direct contacts with clients. The work schedule of the governmental or local establishments with visitors is shortened up to five hours twice a week.
The facilities of the service sector and shops of retail trade close, besides groceries, drugstores, and essential shops. Besides, wholesale trade remains open.
Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš apologized to the citizens of the country and noted that if the government does not assume this measure, the health system will collapse in November as Novinky.cz reported.
“We made a decision to assume measures and I apologize to everyone for it. Unfortunately, we are in a situation when we observe the sharp growth and measures that we assumed in the recent weeks do not work,” Babiš said.
The imposed measures will act until November 3.
On September 30, the emergency state was imposed in the Czech Republic; on October 12, the quarantine measures were tightened for 14 days. The government closed all galleries, museums, gyms and the educational facilities were relocated to the remote form of education.
According to Worldometers, the Czech Republic is at 30th place in the number of people infected with Covid-19. 193,946 cases were registered in the country; while 1,619 of them were lethal.
