The international conference on the reform of the judicial system in Ukraine took place in Strasbourg. Artem Marchevsky, General Producer of 112 Ukraine TV channel and NewsOne TV channel's General Producer Vasyl Holovanov joined the event.
The officials said that the issue of the judicial system of Ukraine is a tough one, as the courts are "tame".
"We definitely have a thing or two to tell - first of all, when the case about the recall of 112 Ukraine's license was considered. This information was all over media; the judges who considered this case were summoned to the Office of the President. It is a tame justice, and we'll be talking and explaining it because in my opinion, there can be no dialogue on the court cooperation between Ukraine and the EU under the current construction of our judicial system. I guess the MEPS should know that, and many of them do... we'll remind them once again. It's the main message we want to deliver", Marchevsky said.
"We'd like to deliver the simple message to our counterparts, members of this conference: the electoral system in our country is selective: it chooses where to act and where to do justice and where to turn the blind eye. We were witnesses of it, and it concerns us, just like every citizen of our country (...)", he added.
September 26, the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting stripped 112 Ukraine TV channel of its digital licenses. The medium continues to work via cable networks, via satellite and on the Internet.
A number of international organizations, MEPs, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Affairs Federica Mogherini and OSCE Media Freedom Representative Harlem Desir protested against the decision that they considered a manifestation of pressure on free media in Ukraine.
