A large fire is taking place in the sea port of Beirut - not far from the place where the tragedy took hundreds of lives last month.
According to The Associated Press, the fire began at the storage with car tires. It's in close vicinity to the place where the explosion of ammonium saltpeter occurred in August.
The reasons for the fire are still unknown.
As is known, powerful explosions occurred in Beirut on the evening of August 4. The blast has damaged and destroyed thousands of homes in the Lebanese capital, and almost nothing remained of the port where the explosion took place. The overall number of injured reached 6,000.
Earlier, the anti-governmental protests started in Beirut, Lebanon that suffered from the powerful blast in the port. People gathered at the streets accusing the authority of negligence due to which the explosion took place in the seaport. They blamed the government after the disaster left them without their homes and belongings. Eventually, the Lebanese Cabinet resigned.
