State of emergency in Smila, Cherkasy region due to absence of heating

Eleven schools are shut down in Smila, as the heating season has not started because of the local energy company's debts. The local authorities announced a state of emergency in the town of Cherkasy region, central Ukraine. UNN reported that with the reference to the local Department of Education, Youth and Sport. 

'Eleven schools and twelve kindergartens are cut off from the heating. Heaters keep the warmth in kindergartens' rooms; there are joint groups because the number of children has reduced. Only the working parents bring their children to kindergarten. The school classes are suspended today; they switched to distance learning mode until the heating season begins', reads the message.  

According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers, the next gas price hike might happen in May 2019. 

According to the document, the prices will be increased in three stages. The decree contains a calculation formula and a coefficient that will be increasing.

Between November 1, 2018 and May 1, 2019, the price of gas for the population will be $220 per a thousand cubic meters, without taxes. Ekonomichna Pravda outlet calculated the cost of transportation and the supplements of gas distribution companies.  

It is reported that the gas price for the population will be $300 per one thousand cubic meters, including taxes, the cost of transportation and the supplements of gas distribution companies.  

According to preliminary calculations, from May 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019, the gas price for the population will make $350 per one thousand cubic meters.
