A shooting of a music video took place at Sofiyska square in downtown Kyiv. Sport cars drifted around Bohdan Khmelnytsky monument - out in the open, without proper approval from the local authorities. Former Ecology Minister Ihor Shevchenko reported that on Facebook.
"How do you like such a race on Sofiyska street at 7.30 a.m.?! Managers of Sofia Kyivska memorial site approved that - for a price, of course. The locals are shocked!", reads the description.
No fence was set on site, so all pedestrians who passed by were in danger. Traces from the car tires contaminated the path on the historical square.
Singer Alyona Alyona was behind the wheel in one of these cars; it is unclear if it was a music video for one of her songs or a promo video for some other project.
It appears that the administration of Sofia Kyivska memorial site and the police approved the event; but there was no consent from the city hall, Shevchenko wrote. The mayor's office also said it would press charges against those who organized the event.
The press office of Kyiv city state administration claimed that the municipal authorities did not provide any consent. The city hall turned to the police asking to look into the incident.
