The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine stated that the accident at Zaporizhia thermal power plant would be investigated by a special commission. This was reported by the ministry’s press service on Facebook.
"On February 3, at 19:26, units 2,3,4 at the Zaporizhia thermal power plant (with a total capacity of 725 MW) were shut down under the action of technological protections after there was a disconnection of the 150 kV overhead line and the block of autotransformers due to a short circuit. The reason for it will be established after the inquiry commission finishes its work here," the statement said.
As a result of the incident, consumers of Zaporizhzhiaoblenerho with a total load of 24 MW were de-energized. All consumers were connected to the power supply at 20:30.
