Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) has registered proceedings against 11 people's deputies of 9 convocations of the Parliament suspected of bribery. This was reported by the press service of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
People's Deputies, who are members of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs, are suspected of taking 30,000 dollars bribes. In exchange, they agreed to vote at a committee meeting against the bill to eliminate corruption schemes during the real-estate appraisal.
"The information has been entered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on the elements of the crime, envisaged by Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - acceptance of an offer, promise or undue gain of a particularly large amount, or committed by an officer holding a particularly responsible position," the statement informs.
If deputies are found guilty, they will be threatened with imprisonment for a term of 8 to 12 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions for a term of up to 3 years, and with confiscation of property.
It is worth noting that the Office of the President of Ukraine and the leadership of the "Servant of the People" party required members of the Finance Committee, as well as the authors of several bills to pass a lie detector.
