Spain's Minister for Equality Irene Montero has called on autonomous communities to close brothels to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Spanish news agency 20 minutos reports that.
The Minister sent a letter to the Regional Equality Advisers asking them to take concrete action for these locations, as has been done for bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
“Without prejudice to our ongoing fight against sexual exploitation, I believe it is important to act specifically in areas where prostitution is practiced,” Montero said.
In her letter, the Minister expressed her "deep concern" about the outbreak of Covid-19 in brothels, which is a "particularly serious" problem, and asked the autonomy to offer the girls who work there "worthy alternatives."
As we reported before, the number of people infected with Covid-19 in Ukraine is already bigger than 100,000
"100,643 lab-confirmed cases in Ukraine on August 21, 2,207 of those lethal. 51,078 patients recovered. 2,106 new cases were observed over 24 hours", the message says.
