Previously, Spain was about to purchase 31 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. However, due to reports of side effects, the country's authorities decided to abandon this drug. In total, only 10 million doses were delivered to Spain.
Today, the AstraZeneca vaccine is used in Spain to complete vaccination of the population aged 60-69 years. Spain will transfer the remaining doses of AstraZeneca to third countries through the global COVAX mechanism.
As we reported earlier, in southern Australia, a 72-year-old woman died after being vaccinated against the coronavirus with AstraZeneca.
Premier Steven Marshall said the Therapeutic Goods Administration confirmed a case of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) in a 72-year-old woman was likely linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The woman’s death is being investigated.
