SBU, the Security Service of Ukraine claimed that a source of radioactive contamination was found in Zhytomyr region, northern Ukraine. The ionizing materials were illegally stored at a local abandoned plant. Press office of the SBU reported that on Wednesday.

The radioactive elements, Crypton-85 were stored at the production facility of the local enterprise. The license of that plant expired, so it appeared that the materials were kept in there illegally. The radioactive stuff was seized and handed over to a specialized state-run enterprise Radon, so that experts can run an investigation and then dispose of these materials.
