Some 24,000 people renounce Ukrainian citizenship in 3 years, - Migration service

Around 24,000 people renounced the citizenship of Ukraine over the [ast three years, as Deputy Head of the State Migration Service Tatiana Nikitina said, according to Ukrainian news.

“In the past three years, some 24,000 people renounced Ukrainian citizenship,” she said.

The Migration service noted that the number of people who renounced the citizenship is to do with the tough economic situation in the country.

Nikitina also noted that fewer citizens apply to become Ukrainian citizens.

In 2017, President Petro Poroshenko revoked the Ukrainian citizenship of 5,200 people. At the same time, less than a 1,000 people received Ukrainian citizenship.
