Social policy committee recommends Ukraine cancels day off on May 2

The amendment was supported during preparing the draft law of the Labor Code before the second reading

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recommends cancelling the day off on May 2. The amendment was supported by the parliamentary Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Protection. The Ukrainian News reported that citing the comparative table of the bill, which is being prepared for the second reading.

The document states that the Narodny Front representatives supported the decision to cancel the day off on May 2.

It is also stated that May 1, the International Labor and Solidarity Day, remains the official state holiday and the day off.

Ealier, it was offered to cancel the holidays on May, 1 – 2 and May 9 and introduce instead the International Labor Day on May 1 and Remembrance Day on May 8 as days off only. The offer was rejected by the Committee.
