The Social Insurance Fund will pay 50% compensation for lost income due to isolation caused by the coronavirus as the fund reported.

The payments will be provided starting from the sixth day of incapacity for work as the first five days should be paid by the employer. Meanwhile, the duration of the qualifying period will not influence the sum of the payment.

“Insured people have the right for such assistance from the Social Insurance Fund for the term of staying in the specialized health establishments and self-isolation under the medical observation due to the holding of the events aiming for the prevention of the appearance and spread of the coronavirus disease and localization and liquidation of its outbreaks and epidemics,” the message said.

An employee should have a sick leave with the determined reason for incapacity for work ‘isolation from Covid-19-11 to get the financing. Then, the employer will process an application- calculation in which he/she should point out the reason for incapacity for work – 11 (isolation from the coronavirus).

As we reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported bill #3376-1, which provides the state insurance for employees of the medical and academic institutions who got the degree of disability or died due to the coronavirus.

As of May 8, the number of Covid-19 patients in Ukraine has reached 14,195. Over the last 24 hours, 504 new cases were registered. The number of fatal cases males 361. 2,706 patients recovered.
