During the last day 548 traffic accidents were caused by the poor weather

More than a week has passed since the first series of snow storms took place in Ukraine, which have caused human casualties. The major snowstorm paralyzed communication lines and roads. A lot of Ukrainian cities were under thick layer of snow, and the local communal services demonstrated their inability to keep the roads clean of snow.

The video was published on social networks, in Poltava people pushed a trolley, which stuck in the snow.

Due to bad weather, road movement in Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Mykolayiv, Odesa and Poltava regions is limited. These regions become heaviest hit areas.

Two roads of national significance are closed in the Dnipropetrovsk region because of snowfall.

Traffic in Sumy, Poltava and Chernihiv regions could be closed because of bad weather.

Poltava citizens complain of poor cleaning of the city from the snow. The City Hall and the Regional Administration officials argue who is responsible for cleaning the snow in the city and on the route Kyiv-Kharkiv. Meanwhile the citizens are forced to suffer from uncleansed streets.

More than 200 pieces of equipment work in the streets of Kharkiv. There is a lot of snow, but almost all the entire public electric transport is on its routes.

Because of the significant deterioration in the weather conditions, traffic on two roads in Odesa region is closed.

Police office of Odesa region states that two dead bodies were found. The cause of these deaths is frostbite.

Because of bad weather, around fifty people were hospitalized, as reported by the Odesa City Council. The most common diagnoses are leg injuries, hypothermia, and frostbite.

And this is how the roads near the city of Odesa look like.

Streets of Odesa are full of snow too. The snowboarders may sledge right on the streets and in parks. Potemkin Stairs is turned into ski slopes.

Minister of Infrastructure Andriy Pyvovarsky said that the situation on the roads in the south of Ukraine is very difficult.

In Kirovohrad region he movement of large vehicles on the roads have banned the Kirovograd region. Cancelled bus services and the movement of trucks. Snowfall in the region does not subside, so drivers are asked to not unnecessarily sits behind the wheel.

State Emergency Service states that during the day, in 6 regions, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv, are suffering from the heavy snow. The snow cover in the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions is 30 cm, in other regions it reached 15 cm.
The most difficult consequences of snowfall in the last time have been recorded in Odesa region.

181 vehicles have been “saved” from the snow traps. 149 of them were cars and 25 were lorries. Odesa international airport has stopped its flights, but at the moment the work is resumed. Three sea ports are closed as well.

In Mykolaiv region 47 towns suffer from the power blackout. The schools and kindergartens are closed. The electric public transport has stopped its work here. 18 vehicles and 68 people were involved into fighting against the snowstorm.

In Dnipropetrovsk region 16 towns remain without electricity, and all the schools are closed here.

The National Police has reported that over the past day 548 traffic accidents were registered, eight people died as a result of the accidents, and another 52 have got injuries of varying severity.
