Lifesavers rescued the Slovakian citizen in the Carpathian mountains. The man appeared to have lost the track while on the tourist route. The regional press service of the State Emergency Service reported that on Wednesday.
'The man told this to rescuers by phone, as soon as he realized that he would not be able to return to the base in the night time and low visibility range. He pointed out his current approximate position. Two specialists of Rakhiv search and rescue unit took a car to conduct the search operation', reads the message.
The tourist was found not far from Bilyi mountain area, near Hoverla mountain, which is Ukraine's highest peak.
The lifesavers also carry on searching for the Kyiv resident who got lost in the mountains at Christmas Eve, January 6. As of noon January 9, his whereabouts are still unknown. On Tuesday, four search and rescue teams searched the area in Zakarpattya region; the works involved 18 State Emergency Service workers, four vehicles and 11 forest guards.
