Sixth power unit at Ukraine's Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant turned off for maintenance

Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) turned off its sixth power unit on November 11 to carry out scheduled medium repairs, which will last until January 19, 2019. The press office of the NNP reported.  

Currently, there are three working power units at the power plant. The total capacity of generators is 2945 MWt. The power units operate normally, there are no complaints about the operation of the main equipment of the power units and personnel.

Radiation background at the industrial site and in the sanitary protection zone amounts to 8-12 microroentgen per hour, which corresponds to the natural radiation background at the location of the Zaporizhia NPP. 

The fourth power unit of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant was connected to the network after the end of large-scale medium repair on October 20.

In recent years, Zaporizhia NNP generates about 50 percent of all electricity produced by nuclear power plants in Ukraine, and more than 22 percent of the total electricity generation in the country.
