In the first two weeks of 2018, 1.285 people have been infected with measles in Ukraine, as Minister of Health Ulana Suprun said in the Parliament today.
“In the two weeks of 2018, there have already been 1.285 infected adults and children. Most of the instances are recorded in Ivano-Frankivsk region - 275, Chernivtsi - 274, Zakarpattia - 194, Odesa - 157, while in Kyiv there are 84 infected,” she said.
As we reported earlier, within 11 months of 2017 3382 people were diagnosed with measles in Ukraine. Last year four lethal cases of measles were recorded, but Ulana Suprun noted there were six lethal cases, and four of them were children. Between 10 and 14 January, more than 10,000 children were vaccinated against measles in Kyiv. It is believed that measles got into Ukraine from Romania.
