Since 2014, Ukraine's state security service, the SBU has imposed 10,000 entry bans for foreigners. The agency provided this data, responding to the request of Radio Liberty.
"Since 2014 till 2020, the SBU banned entry for 9,838 foreign citizens; in 2020 - 573," reads the message.
The SBU marked that these decisions were made in the interests of national security.
The special service added that, in accordance with the Ukrainian law, foreigners can also be prevented from entering the territory of Ukraine by the decision of Ukraine's State Border Guard and State Migration Service.
Previously, Ukraine's Cabinet planned that the foreigners will be allowed to pass the Ukrainian border, on the condition that they live up to 14-days-long quarantine.
Earlier, Mykola Kuleba, the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights, said that foreigners should be banned from using surrogacy services. He stated this during a briefing.
Kuleba added that more than 80% of children born of surrogate mothers were taken abroad.
"We need to close this market for foreign couples. The situation with Ukrainian couples needs to be discussed, then we can talk about the regulation of this activity. If we talk about those children who are born of surrogate mothers, more than 80% of them are taken abroad,” he stated.
