Shooting incident in Kyiv: Man dies

An unidentified shooter opened fire in Kyiv on Tuesday, wounding a man. The press center of the local police reported this on Facebook.

The incident occurred near the restaurant at Antonovycha street. 

The assailant fled the scene, and the injured man was taken to a hospital for treatment. Later, the victim deceased.

A crew of police operatives works on the site, interviewing witnesses and sorting out the details of the incident.

Last month, a conflict between a café owner and a group of visitors emerged in Kyiv. The owner shot one person dead and injured one more. 

'The shooter was detained. He is a native of another country, he was born in 1958, he has never come into the view of the law enforcers. The deceased was the native of Zaporizhia region, born in 1989, the injured – the native of Donetsk, born in 1987,' the police reported.

The wounded was taken to the medical facility with gun-shot injuries.

'We have seized Makarov pistol, preliminary – a military one with a destroyed number, and spent cartridges,' the police officers added.

The shooter faces 15 years behind the bars or life imprisonment.
