Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal urged regional leaders to refrain from holding public events, including congresses and conferences, due to the spread of the coronavirus. The press service of the government reports.

"On the Day of the Defender of Ukraine, it is planned to hold solemn events in different cities. Please keep a dialogue and work actively with the organizers so that the events take place in a safe environment in compliance with all anti-epidemic rules," Shmygal stated.

Shmygal added that the critical situation is still observed in Kharkiv region.

"Over the past day in the Kharkiv region, 741 people fell ill - this is an absolute record. In the Sumy region, 418 people fell ill. More than 200 - in Kyiv, Poltava, Rivne, Hmelnytsky regions. There are clear trends in the increase in the number of diseases," PM noted. 

The head of the government instructed the Kyiv City State Administration, together with the State Food and Consumer Service, to check local markets for compliance with anti-epidemic rules and to strengthen control over transportation in public transport.
