The National Police has classified information about the investigation of the criminal proceedings on the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet. The National Police stated this information at the request of Ukrainian News.
"During the pre-trial investigation, in order to ensure a complete and impartial investigation so that everyone who has committed a criminal offense is held accountable to the best of his guilt, the necessary investigative actions are being conducted," the department said.
The police specified that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and based on its results, decisions will be made in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure.
It is also indicated that Art. 387 (disclosure of data of operational investigative activity, pre-trial investigation) of the Criminal Code foresees criminal liability for disclosure of pre-trial investigation data; therefore it is impossible to provide any more detailed information about this case.
In addition, the news agency contacted the police with a question whether the possible involvement of the employee of the counterintelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine Andriy Omelchenko in hiding the facts about the murder of Sheremet is being checked.
She was also interested in whether an expert examination had been ordered to measure the growth of suspects in the murder of a journalist - Andriy Antonenko, Yulia Kuzmenko, Yana Duhar - and whether conclusions from a phototechnical examination of the growth of people recorded by surveillance cameras from the crime scene of August 25, 2016 would be added to the case file.
As we reported before, the National Police rejected the statement of defense of Yana Duhar, the suspect in the case of the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet.
