As of October 2, forest fires are being extinguished in Luhansk region, 18 people have been hospitalized and seven people have died. It was reported by the press service of the Luhansk region police on its Facebook page.

"Large-scale fires in the forests of Novoaydarskyi, Starobilskyi, Popasnyanskyi, Kreminskyi and Stanychno-Luhanskyi districts, near the cities of Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, and Rubizhne are being extinguished," reads the message.

As we reported earlier, according to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal, the fires in the Luhansk region have finally been localized, settlements in that area are now protected.

"Fires in the Luhansk region affected about 19 thousand hectares of forest plantations, several settlements, from 250 to 400 houses. Fires are localized, settlements are protected," the official said.

It is worth noting that the approximate area of fires in Luhansk region makes 13,000 hectares; over 2,500 people and 264 units of equipment involved in the liquidation of fire.
