The service zone for citizens opened at the temporarily checkpoint Kalanchak at the administrative border with annexed Crimea as the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The service zone of Kalanchak checkpoint includes bus station with departures to Kherson, Odesa, Zaporizhia, Dnipro, Kyiv and Nova Kakhovka; Center of Administrative Service, recreational facilities for travelers and drivers as well as shops and cafes. The length of the zone is 100 meters; the capacity is 1.000 people per day.
“It is a symbolical place, on one side from which is the free area where the European democracy is built, where the state takes care about a citizen; on the other side is ‘Russian world’. It is more comfortable at Kalanchak than at the checkpoint of the occupants as Ukraine opened it with the respect to a human, dignity, for provision of the comfort. Such things as this service zone is the clear demonstration how our state changes and becomes European. The citizens of the peninsula will not the positive changes in the mainland – it will simplify the return of Crimea for us,” Vice Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba noted.
He also underlined that this checkpoint and service zone are temporary and when the peninsula is released, there will be no need in it.
As we reported checkpoints of entry and exit Kalanchak and Chonhar, which are located on the Crimean border, returned to work on November 15.
