'Donbas' should appear in Ukrainian cinemas in 2018; it consists of several episodes revealing true stories that occurred in Ukraine's occupied territories

The 71st Cannes Film Festival's program includes the world premiere of 'Donbas', the new film by Ukraine's moviemaker Serhiy Loznytsia.

According to Ukraine's State Committee for Cinematography, the movie is to open the 'Un Certain Regard' program of the festival.

The script of the film is loosely based on documents about the ongoing armed hostilities in eastern Ukraine, revealing true stories that occurred in the occupied territories of Donbas.

'Donbas' was created in the co-production of Ukraine, Germany, France, Romania and the Netherlands. The film should appear in Ukrainian cinemas in 2018.

This year's Cannes Film Festival will be running from May 8 through May 19. Apart from 'Donbas', it will include the premiere of another Ukrainian movie, 'Woman At War.'
