Ukrainian film maker Oleg Sentsov, who is currently at a hunger strike in the Russian prison, already has certain plans for future, if they release him from custody. The artist intends to shoot a film called Numbers, which is to be based on Sentsov's own play. Anna Palenchuk, the cinema producer presented the draft of the film during Odesa International Film Festival (OIFF) - as quoted by 435 Films company.
According to Palenchuk, Sentsov wrote her, offering her to work on the movie. In one of the letters, the film director described the draft in details, as he imagined it.
'Not every book and play should be cinematized. But this thing, which I wrote a long time ago, I see very clear - one just has to close his eyes. Even where I am now, not knowing my future, I believe in the future of this project. Numbers is not the movie as it is. It's a feeling, extravaganza and grotesque', Sentsov wrote to Palenchuk, as she read the letter aloud during the pitching procedure at the OIFF.
As it was reported earlier, Ukrainian movie director Oleg Sentsov and Crimean activist Oleksandr Kolchenko were detained by the Russian FSB in the annexed Crimea. Both were taken to Russia. Sentsov was charged with preparing a terrorist act in Crimea and sentenced to 20 years in the high-security penal colony. Kolchenko was sentenced to ten-years-long imprisonment.
Oleg Sentsov has announced a hunger strike on May 14. This way, he demands that all Ukrainians detained in Russia and annexed Crimea be released. Sentsov said he was ready to die if the requirements were not fulfilled.
