Seismologists record 1.8 magnitude earthquake in Zakarpattia region

Yesterday, on January 3, scientists observed an earthquake in the Mukachevo district of the Zakarpattia region. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service (SES).

It is noted that the magnitude of the tremors was 1.8.

"On January 3, at 00:08, measuring devices of the seismic station of the Carpathian region recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of about 1.8 points without negative consequences in the area of Barbovo, Mukachevo district," the statement said.

It is noted that an earthquake of this magnitude is usually not felt on the surface by humans.

As we reported earlier, on December 28, an earthquake of magnitude 6,3 occurred 46 km southeast of Zagreb (population - about 698,000 people), Croatia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the tragedy and wished all Croats strength and endurance.

"Deep condolences to Croatia because of the victims of the earthquake. Ukraine prays for all those who suffer from this disaster and wishes strength and endurance. Let all the misfortunes go away this year," reads the message.
