The 11th SEF Central and Eastern European Sustainable Energy Forum and Exhibition 2019 kicked off today at the Hilton Hotel in Kyiv, bringing together over 600 delegates, owners and top executives from 39 countries.

Over 70 international experts in the sphere of renewable energy and energy efficiency, high technology, as well as high-level officials from the energy sector and regulating bodies became the speakers of the event.

SEF 2019 focuses on green generation management to create a reliable, flexible and intelligent energy infrastructure.

“The existing model of the energy system is outdated. It allows us to dictate our rules to the sphere of green generation and, most importantly, to control it. But all the resistance that is being made today is the last attempt to counteract against progress and keep the financial models that lasted for decades. But the world has been already changed and the active development of the newest energy is a process that can be slowed down or stopped anymore, ”says Vitaliy Davy, the Director of IB Center Europe and the Head of SEF 2019 KYIV Organizing Committee.

The central focus in 2019 program is decarbonization as the basis of global economic and political transformation, and the impetus for accelerating the construction of new renewable energy will be the industrialization of the industry and the use of artificial intelligence, which in its turn will completely change the landscape of the industry.

“We need to reduce CO2 emissions, and not just stop them at the current level, but to decarbonize - and to reduce and decrease more and more with every passing year. We believe that the Ukrainian model should be replaced by renewable energy,” says Sergiy Shakalov, CEO of the KNESS Company.

Sergey Shakalov also predicts that the level of 100% of renewables can be achieved in Ukraine in 2035 - 2050.

According to the IB Center analytical report, the capacity of the renewable energy sources increased by 2.55 GW from January to September 2019 in Ukraine, which is 410% more than at the same period last year (0.49 GW).
