The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) blocked another attempt by the Russian special services to destabilize the situation in eastern Ukraine through the activities of organized groups. The SBU press service reports.
"According to operational information, representatives of international criminal circles coordinate the activities of so-called thieves in law and related organized groups involved in serious and especially serious crimes. According to the curators from the Russian Federation, the aggravation of the criminal situation in Ukraine should lead to a drop in the level of confidence in state power and law enforcement system,” - the report said.
SBU officers found that a criminal from one of the countries of the South Caucasus, previously put on the wanted list in Ukraine, under a different name arrived in the Luhansk region. There, the attacker had to coordinate the activities of criminal groups and establish control over certain areas of the legal and shadow business in the region.
Law enforcement officers seized firearms and ammunition, during searches at the place of temporary residence of the attacker.
The person suspected of having committed a crime under Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
