Four residents of the Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions, Western Ukraine, organized an illegal business.
"Attackers created a website hosted on a foreign server through which they offered customers to acquire information with limited access. The cost of services depended on the amount of data that was illegally sold. Among the arrays of illegally obtained data were, in particular, military information about procurement and transfers technology," the report said.
Law enforcers found that almost 50 customers were connected from only one of the attacker's services. Among the buyers were representatives of the Russian Federation.
The perpetrators were detained during the sale of one of the databases in Ivano-Frankivsk. During the searches, they found computer equipment with databases that are state property and have limited access.
Law enforcers opened criminal proceedings under the articles "Unauthorized interference in the operation of computers, automated systems, computer networks or telecommunication networks, which led to leakage, loss, forgery, blocking of information, distortion of the processing of information or a violation of its established procedure routing " and "Unauthorized marketing or distribution of information with limited access that is stored in computers, automated systems, computer networks, or on the media of such information created and protected in accordance with applicable law."
