The Security Service of Ukraine detained the head of one of the public organizations of the Chernihiv region for extorting money from businessmen in Kyiv. The SBU press service reports.

During the investigation, it was found that the man demanded $20 thousand from the entrepreneur. For this amount, he allegedly promised to ‘decide issues’ with officials of the State Fiscal Service in the Chernihiv region the issue of influence on the results of the pre-trial investigation in favor of the businessman.

It is noted that law enforcement authorities detained a suspect in one of the restaurants in the center of the capital while receiving the second part of unlawful benefits for $10 thousand.

Now law enforcement officials are responding appropriately to criminalize other defendants in the case.

As we reported, Ukraine's former Deputy Minister for Occupied Territories Yuriy Grymchak is brought from the Chernihivske detention center to Kyiv's Lukyanivske detention center.

In August 2019, the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), together with representatives of the Special Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine, detained Yuriy Grymchak, the Deputy Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs, and his assistant on a $ 480,000 bribe.
