Security Service blocks smuggling of fuel from Russia to Luhansk region

Illegal underground pipeline was laid in the area of one of the Novopskovsky district villages

Ukrainian Security Service (the SBU) employees discovered and blocked the channel of smuggling fuels and lubricants from the territory of the Russian Federation to the Luhansk region. This is reported by the SBU press service.

An illegal underground pipeline for pumping diesel fuel was found on the Ukraine's state border in the area of one of the villages of Luhansk region.

"For the legalization of smuggled goods, offenders entered into fictitious contracts with enterprises and sold fuel to farms in the Luhansk region," the report said.

The Security Service announced searches, which resulted in the discovery of equipment for pumping fuel and lubricants, a tank with a capacity of 24 cubic meters and 15,000 liters of diesel fuel.

According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the seized goods and equipment is about 500,000 UAH.

At the moment, the pipeline has been dismantled, law enforcement officers conduct investigative actions in the framework of open criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
