Second power unit of Khmelnytska NPP goes back online after maintenance

The unit was plugged to the power grid ahead of the schedule, as the works completed early

The second unit of Khmelnytska nuclear power plant has been plugged to the electric grid on Tuesday evening. The press office of Energoatom company confirmed that, adding that the unit was plugged to the power grid ahead of the schedule, as the works completed early.

'The power unit No.2 of Khmelnytska NPP was plugged to the power network after the regular overhaul was complete. The power output is increasing now. Currently, two power units of Khmelnytska NPP are operative, with the summary generator power reaching 1,160 MWatt', the message said.

Both power units are working as scheduled, no malfunctions are observed.

The second power unit of Khmelnytska nuclear power plant was shut down for maintenance works on September 2.

Earlier, the Ukrainian government approved the economic and technical reasoning of construction of the third and fourth power units.
