The scientists of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute believe that the spread of coronavirus might be slowed down only in the result of the gradual emergence of herd immunity; naturally, it might take place about a year as the institute reported.
“Such a nature of the spread of the coronavirus might be slowed down only in the case of the gradual emergence of herd immunity of 60-70% of the population. Naturally, the process might take place in a year,” the message said.
The scientists noted that the substantial acceleration of the emergence of herd immunity is possible only in the result of the mass vaccination of the population and currently, it is hard to predict.
According to them, the situation is stable-heavy and becomes protracted. The vast majority of the population returned to the usual lifestyle, neglecting the protective means from the coronavirus infection. Its mobility increased by up to 150% in comparison with the beginning of the year.
Moreover, the results of the predictive modeling of the disease’s spread show that in August, the trend of fluctuation of the number of infected in the range of 800 up to 1,500 people daily will be noticed. The scientists supposed that the number of people infected with coronavirus will reach 110-115,000 people until the end of August 2020.
On August 1, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers' decree No. 641 "On the introduction of quarantine and enhanced anti-epidemic measures" came into force in Ukraine. The document extends the adaptive quarantine until August 31, 2020. The government specified that, depending on the epidemiological situation, according to the level of the epidemic danger of the spread of Covid-19, all regions are divided into several zones: green, yellow, orange and red.
As of August 3, over 73,000 people are infected with Covid-19 in Ukraine. 990 cases were registered during the past 24 hours.
