Scientists predict peak of fourth Covid-19 wave in Ukraine

The scientists of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Institute of the Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases have held the research of the spread of the fourth Covid-19 wave in Ukraine caused by the Delta strain as the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute reported.

“During the past 20 years, the cyclic nature was observed of the pandemic of the acute respiratory syndrome, Swine influenza, Ebola, and Covid-19 with a five-six-year period of time,” the message says.

The scientists have predicted the dynamics of the development of the fourth wave of the Covid-19 in Ukraine for 200 days. Currently, this wave is at the stage of growth; it can be quicker, than other waves.

“Its peak is supposed at the level of 15,000-18,000 cases per day. The fading of the fourth wave is expected at the end of 2021,” the authors of the research stated.

The reason for the growth of the incidence is significant mitigation of the quarantine in summer. The scientists reminded about the possibility of the season growth of other respiratory infections and their intensity was held back by quarantine restrictions.
