After the events in Lutsk, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has strengthened security measures on the territory of Kyiv and other regions of the country. The official website of the SBU reports that.
"The Security Service of Ukraine is taking all the necessary measures to maintain peace and order both in Kyiv and in other regions of the country," the message says.
The head of the Kyiv city and regional department of the SBU, Colonel Oleh Holovash said that now there is constant coordination between the SBU, other law enforcement agencies and the local authorities.
"Of course, we pay special attention to the security situation in the capital region, regardless of the statements of any political forces or representatives of local authorities. After all, it is in Kyiv that there are many strategic facilities. Therefore, increased control over the security situation in the capital is a common occurrence for law enforcement agencies," Holovash noted.
After the hijack in Lutsk, the Coordination Group of the Anti-Terrorist Center at the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and the region recommended that the ATC leadership establish an increased level of terrorist threats in the region. It was also decided to introduce an enhanced duty schedule for law enforcement officers in the capital region.
"The main efforts are focused on preventing terrorist activities in places of mass presence of people, as well as on strengthening the security of objects of possible terrorist encroachments," the SBU explains.
