The personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) jointly with the Prosecutor’s office exposed the embezzlement scheme of the budget funds by merchants, allocated for the rehabilitation of the injured participants of the hostilities, the press office of SBU reports.
The operatives of the Security Service established that merchants provided false information on the availability of relevant professionals in a medical facility and material-and-technical rehabilitation base during the bidding (held by the State Service of Ukraine for veterans and Donbas war participants) for the provision of services for the rehabilitation of soldiers.
‘In connection with this, the participants of the hostilities didn’t receive the full range of rehabilitation services provided by the tender conditions,’ the agency noted.
The personnel of SBU documented that the perpetrators illegally possessed the state’s funds in the amount of more than $213 thousand during 2016-2017.
Within the framework of the initiated proceeding, the director of the facility, who is also the MP of one of the local councils, is suspected of having committed misdemeanors under Art. 190 and 366 of Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is continuing.
