Ukraine's Security Service detains soldier who tried to sell aircraft engines from military unit

The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained Ukrainian soldier who attempted to sell two aircraft engines from the military unit in Kyiv, the press office of SBU reports.

‘The company commander of the military unit has been looking for clients to buy two engines for Mil Mi-8 helicopters. He offered the engines to the buyers through intermediaries (according to information, Russian citizens were among them) for $15 thousand. The market cost of the engines is ten times more. The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine have documented that the offender entered the territory of the military unit on truck, which he was going to use for the transportation the engines,’ reads the message.

It is noted that the law enforcement officers detained the company commander under the procedural direction of the Military Prosecutor’s office of Darnytsia garrison right after the truck left the territory of the military unit.

A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against the offender. A pre-trial investigation is continuing.
