Saudi Arabia acknowledges murder of missing journalist Khashoggi

Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul during an altercation that turned into a fight with someone he met there. Such a statement issued by the Attorney General of Saudi Arabia announced by Reuters.

In the case of the murder of a journalist 18 subjects of the kingdom are arrested. Because of the scandal provoked by the disappearance of Khashoggi, the deputy head of Saudi intelligence, General Ahmad Assiri, who is advisor to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, high-ranking adviser to King Saud Kahtani and General Consul of Saudi Arabia in Turkey  Mohammed Al-Otaibi in Turkey resigned.

We recall that the Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi disappeared on October 2 after he entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul. The journalist who wrote a lot of critical articles about the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, wanted to fill  the documents necessary for marriage. The bride of 59-year-old Khasoggi lives in Turkey.

Mass media referring to Turkish intelligence said that the journalist was killed by the Saudi secret services before the interrogation. Official Riyadh, to the last, stated that Khashoggi had freely left the consulate, however, later the authorities of the kingdom were forced to launch an investigation.

The Turkish police is also looking for the body of the journalist. According to some reports, the corpse of Khashoggi could be dissolved in acid.
