Suspects planned to arrange explosion in Simferopol market

Employees of the Russian special services prevented a terrorist attack in one of the markets of Simferopol. The Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia reported this, as cited by Interfax news agency.

"As a result of the measures taken, five citizens of the Russian Federation were detained. It was established that the detainees were preparing to undermine a makeshift explosive device in one of the markets of Simferopol, and also propagated the ideology of terrorism and extremism on the Internet," the report said.

The FSB also said that the detainees were allegedly in contact with Ukrainian soldiers who protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine in Donbas. During searches of the suspects, improvised explosive devices, weapons, ammunition and means of communication were seized on which the data on the crimes being prepared were taken.

At the moment, special services are identifying possible accomplices of the detainees, the issue of initiating a criminal case under the articles "Preparing for the terrorist attack" and "Public calls for terrorism" is being decided. Suspects face up to 20 years in prison. In the near future, the court will choose a preventive measure for them.

As we reported before, the Supreme Court of occupation authorities of Crimea received the appeal of the lawyers against the arrest of Ukrainian military Yevhen Dobrynsky who was detained by Russia’s FSB at the administrative border.
