From Sep. 30, 2015 to Dec. 31, 2017, 5.783 civilians died as a result of Russian military operation in Syria, according to the UK-based Syrian Network for Human Rights.

It is noted that 1.596 children and 992 women are among the killed.

Apart from that, Russian soldiers have conducted at least 294 massacres (i.e., killing five peaceful individuals or more at the same time).

Russian military killed no less than 53 medical personnel and operated 817 attacks on vital civilian facilities, including 141 attacks on medical facilities. 

They have also conducted about 217 attacks using cluster munitions and 113 attacks using incendiary ammunition.

Since 2011, a civil war is underway in Syria, which has turned into a multi-level and multi0faceted armed conflict, which started as a local civilian confrontation and developed into a rebellion against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. Over time, other countries, military alliances, international organizations, and world powers got involved in the conflict. 

Russian campaign in Syria started on Sep. 30, 2015. The coalition has numerously accused Moscow of supporting Assad’s regime, whom Western countries accused of mass violations of human rights.
