A Russian citizen was detained in Kyiv region. He appears to have committed several crimes, including multiple armed robberies and a bomb threat. All these violations took place within one day, says the press office of the National Police in Kyiv region.
The incidents took place in Startopetrivske village. The man approached three locals and took their cell phones, threatening one of them with a knife. After that, he locked himself up in the apartment and threatened to blow up a bomb in the multi-storey house.
The police rushed to the site and tried making contact with him, but the man refused to negotiate. The special forces unit stormed the apartment and detained the culprit, 38-year-old Russian. Currently, he stays in detention in a cell at a remand center. The law enforcers seized the knife, mobile phones that he took from the robbed people, but never found any explosives.
The Russian embassy has been informed about the citizen's detention. The pre-trial restriction measure is being chosen.
