Russia starts large-scale military drills in occupied Crimea

The training of the missile and artillery troops will take place in 19 proving grounds of the Russian South military district

The large-scale military drills of the Russian missile and artillery troops began in the southern part of Russia, including the territories of occupied Crimea on September 5 as DW reported.

More than 5 000 gunmen of the Armed Forces of Russia sent to 19 proving grounds of the South military district in Rostov and Volgograd regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol Krai, Dagestan, North Ossetia, Crimea and in the territories of the Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Osettia.

The training of the gunmen will take place during the next month.

According to the press service of the South military district of Russia, the militaries ‘will master new forms and means of the fulfillment of the fire tasks during the support of the motor-rifle and tank detachments at the complex situation of the modern combined arms warfare’. The special attention will be given to the training in the system of the reconnaissance and fire and reconnaissance and striking contours.

The Russian-Belarusian West-2017 military drills will take place on 14-20 September.  Russia gathers the armored vehicles to the place of the drills holding.
