Russia illegally produced over 3.5 bln cubic meters of gas, -  Chornomornaftogaz

Due to the upcoming international lawsuits, Russia may undertake some actions to stop gas production

Svitlana Nezhnova, the chairman of the management board of the Chornomornaftogaz PJSC, stated that since the Crimea was annexed Russia illegally produced over 3.5 bln cubic meters of gas from the Odesa gasfield. Svitlana Nezhnova said that in her interview with Hromadske.

“Natural gas production is underway, there were 7 gas wells drilled before the annexation, another 11 were drilled later. The illegitimate Crimea authorities is trying to pump out more gas from there, “Nezhnova said.

According to her, Russia has already illegally extracted 7 bln 200 mln cubic meters of gas, have the of the volume belongs to Odesa gasfield.

“Due to the upcoming international lawsuits, Russia may undertake some actions to stop gas production,” Nezhnova added. However Russian authorizes have never made any statement on that.

In 2014 the drilling systems, navy and other assets of the Ukrainian state-owned company Chornomornaftogaz were seized during the annexation. After that the state-owned NAK Naftogaz lost control over the Crimean enterprise. Later, the Chornomornaftogaz PJSC was restored on the mainland Ukraine.
